Tesla Motor’s anticipated electric semi truck helped the company grab first place in Twitter engagement among brands for April, according to ListenFirst Media.
Elon Musk’s tweet -- “Tesla Semi truck unveil set for September. Team has done an amazing job. Seriously next level” -- accrued more than 56,700 likes and over 17,000 retweets.
ListenFirst aggregates conversations about manufacturers, their models and their owned engagement -- engagement that’s directly attributable to their Twitter accounts. The company says it then normalizes the stats by the total engagement earned by all of the manufacturers to find the “share of voice” earned by each company to rank them.
Musk clarified the truck won’t pull into showrooms for 18 to 24 months.
Ford came in second with a tie-in promotion of Ford EcoSport and the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, promising access to exclusive art from the film for fans tweeting #FordGuardians. The tweet from the Marvel Entertainment account collected over 6,000 likes and received 1,237 retweets.
Chevrolet got a boost from a film partnership as well last month, offering Fate of the Furious fans a chance to win a model of Dom’s Chevy Fleetline with every retweet last month.
Garnering 7,571 likes and 3,800 retweets, the 2018 Dodge Demon helped Dodge rip into the fourth slot among brands. The Twitter handle @Billionares referenced the controversial drag car’s 6.2L supercharged V8 engine and 840hp stock, not to mention the acceleration time of 0-60 in 2.3 seconds with a blushing emoji.
