Ford Motor Co. has evacuated roughly 2,000 employees from its Regent Court office in Dearborn, Mich., after a suspicious package was found in the building’s mailroom.
The package was deemed safe and operations returned to normal by 1:15 p.m. ET.
The automaker’s marketing, sales and service team for both its Ford and Lincoln brands are based in the building, located about two miles north of its world headquarters.
After they found the package, Ford officials evacuated the building and called the Dearborn police and fire departments, which then called in a bomb squad, according to Ford spokesman Mike Moran.
“We evacuated the building out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our employees,” he said in a statement.
