Only a few days after his retirement from American Honda, John Mendel has been nominated to join the board of directors at car shopping service TrueCar Inc.
Mendel, 62, would fill the vacancy left by Abhishek Agrawal, who will not seek re-election to the board, the company said in a statement Monday. Mendel’s confirmation is expected at TrueCar’s annual meeting of stockholders on May 18.
Mendel spent 12 years behind the wheel at American Honda, and was head of vehicle operations upon his retirement Saturday, April 1. Before that, he had a 28-year stint at Ford Motor Co., and spent time as COO for Mazda North American Operations.
