WHITBY, Ontario -- It's 7:58 a.m. on a frosty Wednesday in January. I've just driven onto the oil change lane at Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac in my 2017 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback.
I'm about to find out whether, with no appointment, I can get oil service and a long list of other work done -- in 29 minutes or less. My car hasn't stopped moving for more than 15 seconds before the service bay door opens and I am motioned to drive inside.
A young woman smiles and says good morning. She writes down the Chevy's identification number and takes my information.
Two young men on either side of the car remove the floor mats and place them in an automatic cleaning machine. While the mats are being scrubbed, the men reach for vacuum hoses hanging from the ceiling and clean the carpets, front and rear.
