AutoNation Inc. is promoting its lead officers.
The nation’s largest auto retailer said, effective Feb. 1, Bill Berman will move up from executive vice president to president. He retains the title COO. CEO Mike Jackson remains in his present role, the company said in a media release on Wednesday.
“Bill is an outstanding and exceptional leader, whose proven track record and ingenuity are vital for the next phase in AutoNation’s history,” Jackson said in a statement.
Berman, 50, who has 30 years of retail automotive experience, was instrumental in AutoNation’s brand extension rollout as well as the development of some key processes for used-car sales and fixed operations business.
AutoNation also promoted Marc Cannon, and Donna Parlapiano, to executive vice president roles effective Feb. 1. Cannon, 55, is currently senior vice president of communications, public policy and chief marketing officer. Cannon who has more than 30 years automotive retail experience, was named an Automotive News All Star in the category of public relations.
Parlapiano, 52, is senior vice president of franchise operations and corporate real estate. She manages AutoNation’s $3.3 billion real estate portfolio and strategic planning of its 260 dealerships. Parlapiano, a former Ford Motor Co. executive, has twice been named one of Automotive News’ 100 Leading Women.
AutoNation ranks No. 1 in Automotive News top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., with 339,080 new vehicle sales in 2015.
