The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the most expensive Land Rover models, both get freshened this year.
Both models are in hot demand in the United States. The Range Rover lineup is the brand's best-selling group in the nation.
But vehicles badged Land Rover are getting more competitive with the addition of the compact Discovery, which goes on sale this year, replacing the LR4. The LR2 was replaced in 2014 by the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Land Rover has been the bedrock for Jaguar Land Rover in the United States. The Range Rover models are a benchmark for many high-line premium SUVs. Both ranges are expected to push combined Jaguar Land Rover sales past the 100,000-unit level this year.
The key to increasing sales will be the return of the Defender to the U.S. next year. The Defender will compete with the more rugged SUVs offered by the volume brands. Land Rover expects the Defender's off-road capabilities to set it off as a premium vehicle with a higher price tag.
Electric models are expected in both the Discovery and Range Rover models, which can use the architecture shown on the Jaguar I-Pace concept that was unveiled last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
