Subaru of America is reconsidering plans to move into a headquarters being constructed in Camden, N.J., because an income tax agreement between New Jersey and Pennsylvania is being scrapped.
Tom Doll, COO of Subaru of America, initially threatened to halt plans to build an 83,000-square-foot national training center that would be part of the new headquarters site. A company insider later said that Subaru may not occupy the 250,000-square-foot headquarters that it had expected to move into in 2018.
Subaru would not say whether it would sell the headquarters building or seek further incentives and grants from New Jersey. The company had been courted by New Jersey and Pennsylvania when it was deciding where to relocate.
