Porsche will introduce its first station wagon in March at the Geneva auto show, sources said.
A wagon version of the redesigned Panamera sedan is due to go on sale in the months after the March show. The new Porsche is to be based partly on the Sport Turismo design concept shown in 2012 at the Paris auto show.
The wagon body style is mainly popular in Europe, while in the U.S. and China, Porsche’s biggest markets, customers tend to opt for crossovers such as Porsche’s Cayenne and Macan. Still, the cost to develop such a derivative is moderate, and Mercedes-Benz attracted new buyers with the wagon version of the CLS.
