BMW Financial Services has opened its online remarketing channel to all dealers in preparation for an increase in off-lease vehicle volume, the company said today.
The captive’s BMWGroupDirect.com is now accessible to non-BMW franchised dealers as well as independent used-only dealers who have valid AuctionACCESS accounts. AuctionACCESS allows dealers to buy used vehicles online and is accepted at over 250 auctions in North America, according to its website.
BMWGroupDirect.com is powered by RMS Automotive’s web-based vehicle portfolio management system. RMS Automotive is a unit of Cox Automotive, which also owns Manheim, the nation’s largest auto auction.
The site carries vehicle listings from BMW Financial’s national inventory of off-lease vehicles. Previously, BMWGroupDirect.com was open exclusively to BMW franchised dealers, Nina Englert, BMW Financial vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
“Given the changing dynamics facing the grounding dealer and with more off-lease inventory entering the market, we needed to take our upstream remarketing program to the next level,” she said.
“Dealers can see our off-lease inventory across multiple auction locations, making it an efficient way to source our vehicles. And as the shift from traditional auction to online sales channels continues to grow, this will become an increasingly important value-add to dealers.”
BMW franchised dealers continue to have exclusive access to BMW Group vehicles, BMW Financial said.
More than 450 BMW and Mini franchised dealers and 50 independent dealers and wholesale buyers have purchased vehicles on BMWGroupDirect.com since it started in 2015, the company said.
Nick Peluso, RMS president, said Cox Automotive is committed to helping BMW Financial Services find innovative solutions to grow the captive’s business.
Peluso said in a statement: “With anticipated growth over the next several years in off-lease volumes, this solution will help BMW Group Financial Services generate greater business efficiencies that will fuel better remarketing decisions.”
