Buick-GMC dealers are happy about changes to a key General Motors incentive program that gives them a shot at earning more bonus money, the head of the brands' dealer council said.
For 2016, GM revised its Standards for Excellence program, which has been in place since the 1990s to reward dealers for increasing sales and providing good customer service. The new program, SFE Elite, gives dealers the chance to earn more money if they hit their objectives, says Robert Morris III, chairman of the Buick-GMC National Dealer Council.
SFE Elite is similar to a trial program Buick-GMC put in place for the second half of 2015. Some owners of higher-volume dealerships told Automotive News last year that the incentives netted them $50,000 to $100,000 in monthly payouts, substantially more than they had been earning under previous iterations of Standards for Excellence.
