LOS ANGELES -- Chrysler has released pricing information on its new minivan, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, that places the van below similarly equipped segment offerings from rivals Honda and Toyota.
The Pacifica, revealed at the Detroit auto show, went into production Feb. 29. It is due to arrive in U.S. showrooms this spring.
The base LX model will start at $29,590, while the top-end Pacifica Limited will start at $43,490, said Bruce Velisek, director of the Chrysler brand. Both prices include shipping.
The base Pacifica LX is comparable to the Honda Odyssey LX, which starts at $30,300, and the Toyota Sienna L, which starts at $29,750; both prices include shipping. The Odyssey and Sienna’s top-trim versions start at least $2,000 higher than the Pacifica Limited.
Fiat Chrysler executives believe base model LX sales will make up only about 8 percent of Pacifica sales, while Limited models will be chosen by about 20 percent of Pacifica buyers.
The majority of Pacifica buyers will fall into the minivan’s three middle trim levels, Velisek said.
The Pacifica Touring, which adds power sliding doors and other options, will start at $31,490 including delivery, and should draw an estimated 27 percent of sales. A higher-end Touring-L, which is expected to be the high-volume model with 30 percent of sales, adds heated leaver seats, a power rear liftgate and remote start and will start at $35,490, including delivery.
A new Touring-L Plus trim brings in a standard heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring and Chrysler’s new Uconnect Theater rear seat infotainment system for $38,890, including delivery, and is expected to command about 15 percent of orders, Velisek said.
FCA will continue to build the current Dodge Grand Caravan into 2017, with the Dodge minivan covering the lower end of the price spectrum, as well as filling fleet operators’ needs for minivans.
