(Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda resigned from his position as vice chairman of the organizing committee for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Toyoda will remain as chairman of the Japan business lobby Keidanren’s committee on the games, according to a statement.
Explaining the decision to resign, Toyoda said it was “vitally important” for the organizing committee and Japan’s business community to strengthen collaboration ahead of the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro, and that he’ll encourage the business community to support the 2020 games.
