Fields Auto Group has agreed to buy Brumos Automotive in Jacksonville, Fla.
The deal is expected to close in mid-February. Brumos declined to announce the terms of the transaction because it remains subject to governmental and manufacturer approvals.
Brumos owns seven stores that sell Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lexus, Sprinter and Smart vehicles in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia.
A. Dano Davis, majority shareholder of Brumos, said selling was a difficult decision.
“Fields will be very good for our employees and our customers,” he said in a statement today. “It is family owned and operates similarly to Brumos. In addition, its larger size will enhance the career opportunities for our employees.”
Based in Glencoe, Ill., Fields began in 1971 with a Cadillac dealership in Evanston, Ill. It has 38 franchises at 25 locations in Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin and North Carolina, according to its website.
Its sells BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, Land Rover, Range Rover, Alfa Romeo, Volvo, Rolls-Royce Motorcars, Bentley, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Infiniti, MINI Cooper, Volkswagen, Jeep, Sprinter, FIAT, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge and Cadillac vehicles.
In Jacksonville, Fields currently operates a Jaguar and Land Rover dealership and a Cadillac store, the statement said. It also has a Cadillac dealership in St. Augustine.
