That Bentley's first crossover, the V-12-powered Bentayga, would be opulent to the extreme was to be expected. The price will start around $230,000 -- $90,000 more than the supercharged Range Rover Autobiography, the current king of luxury SUVs.
But there is one optional item on the Bentayga that doubles the price of the vehicle: a gold-trimmed, diamond-studded Breitling clock with a unique winding mechanism. Reports from last week's Frankfurt auto show, where the Bentayga debuted, say the Tourbillon by Breitling clock will be priced at £150,000. That's $233,000 at Friday's exchange rate.
The options also include a Mulliner picnic set, complete with custom Linley china cutlery, crockery and crystal glassware. Oh, and a refrigerator. Everything but the kitchen sink, it seems. No word on the price for that item.
If you want just a Breitling Tourbillon wristwatch, that's available for $175,000.
