General Motors drivers looking for cheap places to eat, sleep and shop might be in luck with a new update to OnStar’s mobile app.
The AtYourService platform, which provides subscribers access to various shopping, dining and hotel deals, will soon be available through the service’s RemoteLink application, OnStar said today. AtYourService, currently available in-vehicle with the help of OnStar advisers, provides subscribers with information on nearby businesses, including savings at some restaurants, retailers, fuel and hotels.
The app’s new AtYourService tab will update offers from companies, including Dunkin’ Donuts and RetailMeNot, based on the user’s location and the time of day. The user can then save offers for later use and can favorite frequently visited locations, in addition to accessing special deals and trials from Audiobooks.com.
OnStar said about 35 percent of its navigation requests are for retail locations, 20 percent are for dining and 10 percent are for hotels.
OnStar hopes to cut into the mobile couponing market with the expansion of AtYourService into the RemoteLink app, which has 1.6 million active users. It cites data from the online statistics portal Statista that predicts 92 million people will use mobile coupons in the U.S. this year.
“With our very active RemoteLink user base and a growing demand for mobile couponing, the integration of AtYourService into our RemoteLink mobile app will help create a more personalized and convenient driving experience,” said Mark Lloyd, Onstar’s consumer online officer.
The RemoteLink app currently allows its users to remotely start their vehicles, in addition to unlocking doors, sending routes to their cars and receiving vehicle information.
