ORLEANS, Mass. -- Former Ford Motor Co. President Philip Benton died June 14. He was 86.
Benton started at Ford as a cost analyst in 1953. As part of a 1987 restructuring, he became an executive vice president of the company and president of the newly formed Ford Automotive Group. In 1990, Benton was named president and COO; he held those positions until he retired in 1992.
