What's new in the wacky, wonderful world of dealership advertising? How about the mannequin placed on top of a billboard on U.S. Highway 61 near Des Moines, Iowa, that promoted Deery Brothers, a multifranchise store in West Burlington. The sign read: "From up here, I can see Deery of Burlington."
The Des Moines County Sheriff's Department noted that about 20 people who drove by the sign called 911 to report a possible jumper. Dealer Brad Deery decided to remove the mannequin.
"The sheriff didn't tell me to take it down," he told the local CBS affiliate, "but when I heard about the 911 calls -- I don't want to be tying up a line. ... I'm here to sell cars, not get people hurt."
