Volvo customers will receive a 4-year subscription to SiriusXM traffic and weather information when purchasing a 2015 1/2 model equipped with the latest generation of Volvo Sensus Connect, the company's connected car platform.
With SiriusXM traffic and weather information, drivers can access information through the Volvo Sensus Connect in-car display. SiriusXM Traffic provides viewable traffic speed and flow information as well as detailed accident information to assist in routing around congested areas.
Volvo is counting on the offer to help stoke its U.S. sales, which have slipped 9 percent this year through November to 51,446 units. The monthly subscription price for SiriusXM Traffic and Weather is $5.98. SiriusXM has more than 26.7 million subscribers.
In addition to traffic updates, customers can view local and national weather radar maps, receive on-screen weather alerts, storm information as well as check detailed current and 5-day forecasts.
"Volvo Cars of North America is committed to offering our customers innovative in-vehicle technology that guides drivers and passengers safely to their destination," Art Battaglia, manager of lifecycle, business and brand strategy for Volvo Cars of North America, said in a statement.
Volvo said customers who purchase a new vehicle equipped with satellite radio will continue to receive a six-month subscription to SiriusXM's "All Access" package, which includes the satellite radio service's premium programming lineup.
