North American car and truck production in October rose 3 percent from the year-earlier level to an estimated 1,672,685 vehicles.
The total extended the streak of production topping 1 million vehicles to a record 39 months in a row.
Car production fell 11 percent in the U.S. and 3 percent in Canada but jumped 25 percent in Mexico. North American car output slipped 1 percent.
Truck output rose in all three countries, climbing 6 percent in the U.S., 17 percent in Canada and 4 percent in Mexico. North American truck production increased 7 percent.
Vehicle output eased 1 percent in the U.S. but rose 9 percent in Canada and 16 percent in Mexico.
