Both Texas dealerships bearing his name are on this year's list of the Best Dealerships To Work For, after Greg May Honda made the list by itself in 2013.
The Honda store is 24 miles south of Greg May Chevrolet in the much larger city of Waco. As a result, it sells almost twice as many vehicles as its Chevy sibling in West, Texas, although the stores have about the same number of employees.
Greg May Honda, which May bought in 1995, averages 150 to 160 new and used vehicles a month with just eight salespeople. Instead of a traditional commission structure, salespeople are paid based on a formula that uses the average gross of their deals each month. The staffers like it, and "it keeps your cheaper cars moving," said Kyle Binner, the general manager.
