FRANKFURT -- Daimler will supply Aston Martin with electric and electronic parts to extend a product alliance that started last year.
The parts deal signed on July 31 is part of a larger agreement that also involves Daimler's Mercedes-Benz AMG performance unit adapting V-8 engines for future Aston Martin vehicles.
Daimler and Aston Martin also are in talks on using Mercedes technology to develop an SUV that Aston Martin would sell by 2017, people familiar with the matter said this year.
Aston Martin is amid the biggest investment program in its history after Investindustrial, a private equity firm, bought a 37.5 percent stake in December 2012.
Daimler also will receive another 1 percent stake in Aston Martin, lifting its holding to 5 percent, a Daimler spokesman said.
