HAMBERG, Germany -- Thanks to some newly won contracts, German auto supplier Grammer AG has made its debut in the Brazilian passenger car market.
Until now, Grammer do Brasil had provided only truck seats and agricultural machinery in the South American country.
The company has now significantly expanded production capacity in Brazil to manufacture head supports for the local car market. Because of the expansion, its factory in Atibaia, near Sao Paulo, has enlarged by one-third to 161,460 square feet and the work force has grown by about 100 to nearly 700.
The supplier has just announced that it plans to boost its revenue 30 to 40 percent over the next five years, with most of the growth outside of Europe. For 2014, the publicly traded company expects a revenue increase of at least 2.7 percent, to more than 1.3 billion euros ($1.76 billion).
