North American car and truck production rose 1 percent in April from the year-earlier month to an estimated 1,479,033 units. Production has topped 1 million units for a record 33 months in a row.
Car production fell 15 percent in both the United States and Mexico, but rose 7 percent in Canada. North American car output fell 12 percent.
Truck output increased 11 percent in the United States and 40 percent in Mexico, but slipped 4 percent in Canada. North American truck production rose 12 percent.
Vehicle output was essentially flat in the United States and Canada, while edging up 4 percent in Mexico.
