CHICAGO -- Ford unveiled a 2014 F-150 Tonka edition pickup at the Chicago Auto Show. The bright yellow pickup was designed by upfitter Tuscany Motor Co. in collaboration with Ford.
"We're going to build 500 of these," said Michael Graber, president of Elkhart, Ind.-based Tuscany. "Our customer is Ford dealerships."
Dealerships will be limited to one truck per dealership. The truck has a sticker price of $72,360, including freight. Graber said the trucks will be shipped to dealers this summer.
The Tonka name is licensed from toy maker Hasbro, and the Tonka logo is emblazoned in various locations on the truck. Each truck has a chrome logo on the center console stamped with a special edition number.
A 6-inch Pro-Camp suspension lift kit makes the truck look very large indeed. Graber said Tuscany did a test run of 250 Tonka pickups last year.
"They sold out in a week," he said.
