BMW and Toyota are developing a joint platform for sports cars, BMW development chief Herbert Diess told a German newspaper.
"We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car," Diess told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands."
No details about the vehicles were given.
BMW and Toyota in June 2012 agreed to cooperate in various areas including lithium air batteries and lightweight technology. At the time, they also said they would study the potential for a joint platform for a mid-sized sports vehicle.
