FRANKFURT -- Audi will add a small crossover called the Q1 in 2016, joining a booming segment in Europe that includes such models as the Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman.
Audi did not say whether the Q1 will be sold in the United States.
"The Audi Q1 is part of our broad-based SUV strategy," CEO Rupert Stadler said in a statement. "It is designed on the basis of the modular transverse engine concept and will round off our Q series at the bottom end."
The Q1 will be built in Ingolstadt, Germany.
