AutoNation Inc., the nation’s largest auto retailer, said today that its U.S. new-vehicle retail sales rose 13 percent in November from the year-ago period, to 25,454 units.
Retail sales in AutoNation's luxury segment jumped 13 percent in November from a year earlier to 5,909 units, the company said.
Domestic and import brands also did well in November compared with the same month a year ago, AutoNation said. Domestic-brand retail sales rose 15 percent to 7,409. Import-brand retail sales increased 11 percent to 12,136.
Sales of cars and light trucks across the industry in the United States rose 9 percent in November to 1.24 million total units.
AutoNation, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., ranks No. 1 on Automotive News’ list of the top 125 U.S. dealership groups in the United States, with retail sales of 267,810 new vehicles in 2012.
