VW Design Vision GTI
On the outside, VW's Design Vision GTI is adorned with various fins and a body kit that make it appear blazing fast even when it is standing still. And under the hood is a 503-hp engine capable of topping out at 186 mph. It is built off the base engine in the VW GTI -- a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 230 hp. Jonathan Browning, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, calls it "free thinking" from the company's designers.
Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG
Mercedes-Benz signaled intentions to add a high-performance variant to its newest compact crossover with the Concept GLA45 AMG. Power comes from an AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 355 hp and 332 pounds-feet of torque. It is combined with a seven-speed Speedshift transmission and Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive. The little crossover, AMG says, will hit 60 mph in less than five seconds. The GLA goes on sale next fall followed by the AMG variant.
