- Full-time employees: 39
- 2012 new-vehicle sales: 599, up 10%
- Benefit highlight: Holiday party in decorated showroom with a $500 bonus for all employees. Last year, Lutz wrote a Christmas card to the spouse of every employee detailing how important the spouse is to the dealership.
- Cool perk: Every 18 months, employees and spouses take a 2-night trip to Chicago. Employees get $100 spending money. The dealership provides 7 minivans for transportation.
- Sales Manager Bill VanDam on showing employees that they are valued: "The dealer holds two breakfast meetings a year and he tells us how important we are to the organization. He talks about how the company is doing financially and what the plans are for the future.
"When Chrysler went bankrupt we had a meeting and Wes assured us that no one would lose their job and that cutting wages would be a last resort. We thrived during the bankruptcy. Business was excellent and no one lost their job or saw their income decline.
"He asks for input all the time and includes everyone in major decisions. An example: Our techs choose all of the shop equipment. They evaluate all the options and then decide as a group what to buy.
"When there are perks like free tickets, they are offered to the lowest paid employees first. When there is a death of a family member, the company policy allows us to take as much time as we need with pay. Or when our kids are playing games during business hours, we are encouraged to go watch."
