Rick Hendrick, who called himself "the biggest Corvette gearhead in the world," is presented with the first 2014 Corvette Stingray by Ed Welburn, General Motors' global design boss at GM's Warren [Mich.] Tech Center. Hendrick, chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group in Charlotte, N.C., and owner of Hendrick Motorsports, paid $1.1 million at a January auction for rights to the first Corvette. Proceeds benefit the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and will be used for student financial aid.
