Car-sharing company Zipcar Inc. said it expanded its Detroit fleet to 40 vehicles from 10.
Most of the company's vehicles in Detroit are Ford Motor Co. nameplates, including the Escape compact crossover and Focus compact car.
The Zipcar vehicles are in public and private lots and garages in areas around the city such as Downtown, Midtown, New Center, Woodbridge, Rivertown and Hamtramck.
Zipcar has had vehicles on Wayne State University's campus in Detroit since 2011 and added two vehicles to its Detroit fleet in August, a Zipcar spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Zipcar allows customers to rent vehicles hourly or daily. Rates start at $9 per hour and $75 per day and include fuel, reserved parking spots, insurance, roadside assistance and as many as 180 miles of driving each day.
