North American car and truck production in August rose 3 percent from the year-earlier month to an estimated 1,496,026 units. It was the highest level of any month this year and the highest August since 2005.
Car production rose less than 1 percent in the United States and 6 percent in Mexico but fell 19 percent in Canada. North American car output dropped 1 percent.
Truck output climbed 10 percent in the United States while dropping 4 percent in Canada and 3 percent in Mexico. North American truck production rose 6 percent.
Vehicle output rose 6 percent in the United States and 2 percent in Mexico but slid 10 percent in Canada.
