In a new ad campaign that starts next week, animated "spokescrumbs" will fall victim to the HondaVAC in the redesigned 2014 Honda Odyssey -- touted as the first minivan with a built-in vacuum cleaner.
An on-board vacuum cleaner will likely appeal to parents who purchase minivans. Tom Peyton, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., who oversees advertising for Honda, said the HondaVAC received positive reactions from focus groups. The idea of adding an on-board vacuum cleaner to the Odyssey was suggested by the daughter of a Honda engineer, according to the company.
The HondaVAC is standard equipment in the top-of-the-line Odyssey Touring Elite trim, which starts at $45,280, including shipping.
