As vice president of marketing for Volkswagen of America, Kevin Mayer is directing the messaging for a brand that aims to have 800,000 sales by 2018.
In 2012, VW sold 438,133 vehicles.
Mayer will outline his vision for that growth during the second annual Automotive News New York marketing seminar Sept. 18 at the Marriott Marquis in New York.
At VW, Mayer oversees marketing platforms and sets the strategic direction for the brand. He joined VW from Chevrolet, where he was director of advertising and sales.
Mayer will be joined on the panel by Kim McCullough, brand vice president of Land Rover North America.
The theme of the seminar is "Marketing's New Mix: Mastering the Message." Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion.
The lunch program will focus on the proliferation of social media, the resurgence of advertising in network TV and the challenge of balancing new media with traditional forms of advertising.
A reception begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. For more information, click here.
