GMC, the National Football League's official automotive sponsor, has teamed up with video game company EA Sports to feature its vehicles in Madden NFL 25.
The redesigned 2014 GMC Sierra pickup, one of General Motors' biggest product launches this year, as well as the Yukon and Terrain SUVs, and Acadia crossover are featured in the game. In addition to the product placements, the GMC logo appears on stadium advertisements and content throughout the game.
It is the first time an automotive brand has featured vehicles in the series.
Using data that GMC designers generated while creating the cars, staff at EA Sports were able to match distinctive features of the vehicles used in the series. From headlight styling to the signature grille and chrome accents featured in the upscale Denali nameplate, the cars in the game leave few details behind.
The light trucks make an appearance following a Super Bowl victory, and the player that is named MVP in the game also receives a vehicle, just like in real life.
A GMC spokeswoman said the four featured models rotate throughout gameplay. She would not disclose the value of the ad deal.
As a part of its partnership with the NFL, each week during the regular season GMC selects a Never Say Never Moment of the Week, a play that demonstrates strong performance by players.
Gamers will be able to download and reenact those moments in Madden NFL 25.
The game goes on sale Aug. 27.
