To the Editor:
This is in regards to the June 10 letter "Not so much as a fare-thee-well" from a retired dealer.
I would like to say to the writer, Marshall Friedman: Thank you -- not from General Motors but from another person who has spent his life in the car business.
After working for a GM dealer, running my own transmission repair business for 50 years and working the airways as an auto repair talk radio host, I have learned that it's the individuals -- the customers -- with whom we interact who care about us, appreciate our honest services and what we do in our communities.
We don't always get a direct "Thank you," but I know that people close to home appreciate what a civic-minded community-oriented business Friedman ran for 35 years.
