CarMax Inc., the nation's largest used-vehicle retailer, said today that it will open four new stores in New York, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Washington state, during March-May 2014.
Three of the store openings -- in Henrietta, N.Y.; Dothan, Ala.; and Spokane, Wash. -- represent entrances into new markets for the company. A fourth opening, in Mechanicsburg, Pa., is in the Harrisburg, Pa., market, where the company already has a presence.
The four stores are among 13 that CarMax plans to open by June 2014 -- the other nine locations were announced previously. The company said that planned opening dates are subject to change based on unforeseen delays.
CarMax said in its earnings statement that it expects to spend about $300 million on capital expenses in the fiscal year that began March 1.
The company's most recent store opening took place earlier this month in Katy, Texas. The store is the company's fifth in the Houston market.
