Enterprise Holdings Inc.'s new boss, Pamela Nicholson, is the rental-car company's first leader from outside the founding Taylor family, but she knows Enterprise well.
Nicholson, promoted last week to CEO, has been at the company for 32 years. She has been COO for 10 years and president for five, Enterprise said.
Nicholson will retain her president title and continue to oversee day-to-day operations of the company, which operates Alamo Rent A Car and National Car rental, Enterprise said.
Nicholson succeeds Andrew Taylor, who will hold the title of executive chairman, according to the company.
Enterprise, of St. Louis, was founded 56 years ago. The closely held company is the largest rental-car company by sales.
The executive succession takes place as the company moves to expand internationally to sustain growth. Enterprise has moved into markets including China, Spain and France.
