GM said that prices for the Denali, as well as official horsepower, torque and fuel economy ratings for the 6.2 liter engine, will be announced later.
For the first time on the Sierra Denali, the 6.2-liter engine will be optional; the 5.3-liter V-8 engine will be the standard engine. The 5.3-liter produces 355 hp and 383 pounds-feet of torque.
The top-trim Denali line has become a bright spot for GMC, accounting for about 20 percent of the brand's sales last year.Denali take rates range from about 60 percent on the Yukon SUV to 5 percent on the Sierra 1500.
The 2014 Sierra Denali is GMC's answer to the proliferation of high-end pickups. Ford, for example, generates nearly one-third of its F-150 pickup sales from five luxury models, including King Ranch and Platinum models.
The '14 Denali features a signature bold chrome grille, 20-inch chrome wheels and an 8-inch customizable digital instrument panel that shows settings and audio and navigation information. Other standard features include heated and cooled front seats, a heating steering wheel and front and rear park assist.
Options include the 6.2 liter engine, a sunroof and a rear entertainment system.
Through April, overall GMC sales were up 12 percent to 139,726, outpacing the industry's 7 percent rise.
