BMW has given the 5-series sedan and Gran Turismo a midcycle freshening for 2014 and hiked the price by $1,700 on base models. The cars go on sale in August.
The exterior underwent minimal change, but the interior received several improvements, including roomier storage compartments in the center console. All trim levels get the new BMW navigation system with a touch pad on the iDrive controller as standard equipment. The cars also get a new feature that allows the trunk to be opened with a kicking motion under the rear bumper.
The base 2014 528i will start at $50,425. The 2014 535i entry-level Gran Turismo jumps to $60,925. The prices include shipping.
For 2014, BMW adds the 535d diesel sedan with an inline six-cylinder engine that puts out 255 hp and 413 pounds-feet of torque. The diesel model will be available with optional all-wheel drive.
