Can Shaquille O'Neal really fit into a Buick LaCrosse? During a recent episode of the "Inside the NBA" postgame show on the TNT network, analyst Charles Barkley kidded the 7-foot-1-inch Shaq about his LaCrosse ads by saying O'Neal had to be rubbed down with Gold Bond Lotion to slide in.
Gold Bond is one of the products Shaq endorses.
Here was the exchange:
Barkley: "Had to grease your body to get in that Buick."
O'Neal: "It takes me two seconds to get in my Buick."
Barkley: Co-analyst Kenny Smith "told me only you and one of your kids can fit. You have to go to the amusement park with just one kid at a time."
O'Neal: "It's probably true."
But Shaq does indeed drive a Buick, brand spokesman Nick Richards said.
Richards said Shaq received a black 2013 LaCrosse -- his first -- from an Atlanta-area dealership earlier this month.
His first LaCrosse? But he's been doing the Buick spots for more than a year.
"Shaq's commercial was so well received and tested so well that we came back again this year and came up with a new angle and ran another round of commercials with him," Richards said.
"As part of that second time and doing more with him, we included in the agreement access to a vehicle."
