The jet fighterlike Lamborghini Egoista concept shown this month at the company's 50th anniversary celebration in Bologna isn't planned for production, but it does have a purpose: countering critics who think Lambo has lost some of its design edginess.
The one-seater was designed by Walter de' Silva, Volkswagen Group's global design chief, who said it "represents the extremes of hedonism. It is a car without compromise."
The Egoista (Italian for selfish) probably could be produced if Lambo chose to do so. It is fitted with the Lamborghini Gallardo's 5.2-liter V-10 engine and is based on the Gallardo's platform.
