Magna International Inc.'s Cosma unit has opened a plant in the southwest China municipality of Chongqing to supply body and chassis parts to automakers in the area.
The production facility will mainly supply Ford Motor Co.'s plants in Chongqing and Volkswagen's plant in Chengdu, Magna said.
Initial investment in the plant, which currently employs 262 workers, has topped $50 million (310 million yuan).
Cosma also has China factories in Shanghai, Changchun, and Changsha.
