An innovative surfer, pioneering Olympian and others who Mazda calls "game changers" will help launch the redesigned Mazda6 mid-sized sedan in an advertising campaign kicking off this week.
The campaign will give Mazda a consistent presence on TV for the rest of the year, says Russell Wager, vice president of marketing for Mazda North America Operations. The campaign includes print ads, billboards and a large online ad presence, Wager said.
Some of the commercials will feature Dick Fosbury, who invented the back-first high jump and won a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. A preliminary TV spot tied Fosbury's then-novel high jump approach to the way Mazda says its Skyactiv technology improves fuel economy without sacrificing performance.
Skyactiv is the name Mazda gives to a package of technologies, such as fuel-efficient powertrains and lightweight chassis.
