How do you hide a behemoth like the 2015 Cadillac Escalade? For General Motors engineers, the answer is to make it look like a Ford.
GM sent out a test fleet of its next-generation full-sized SUVs last week under heavy camouflage. But whether the vehicles underneath were Chevys, GMCs or Cadillacs, they shared a common trait: a black plastic oval across the grille to cover the bowtie, the GMC badge or the crown and wreath.
That made the big SUVs look at first blush like the Ford Expedition. But the Cadillac wreath suffered a wardrobe malfunction, sneaking out from behind the oval as the Escalade motored along.
Nice try, GM.
