COLOGNE, Germany -- Lexus plans to show a production-ready premium compact crossover to rival the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 at next year's Geneva auto show, a company source said. The vehicle will be sold in North America and Europe, the source added.
The hybrid, based on the Toyota RAV4, will slot below the Lexus RX 450h and become the automaker's first offering in the fast-growing segment, the source said.
Toyota Europe declined to comment.
Lexus chief Kazuo Ohara has said a concept version of the crossover would be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in November.
