To the Editor:
I'm responding to the article in the June 4 Automotive News about General Motors North America President Mark Reuss saying GM will base salaried workers' bonuses on owner loyalty.
Mr. Reuss: How about the dedicated salesperson who has stuck by GM through thick and thin?
I have been a loyal Chevrolet salesperson for 20 years. I've invested my time and energy in this career. I stuck by in good and bad times for the sake of my clientele. I have been committed to this brand.
However, after the past few years it seems difficult to stand behind this brand. The profit has shrunk, the cost of doing business has increased, and I find myself working 10 times harder for three times less.
I understand that we all have had to adjust with this economy. Unfortunately, the only one showing a profit is GM. Please take a moment and think of the salespeople who every day try to convert customers to GM products. Please remember how every lead that turns into a sale creates service and a customer for a lifetime.
