BMW plans a new version of its legendary M1 midengine sports car, according to German press reports.
The 1978 BMW M1 was a midengine exotic produced with Lamborghini. With its Giugiaro-designed, wedge-shaped body, it is considered a style icon and a milestone in the history of BMW. But it was not a market success: Just 460 were built between 1978 and 1981, and BMW had to discount the last ones heavily.
The new version could reach the market in 2016, according to the German magazine Auto Bild.
