To the Editor:
Keith Crain's March 12 column, "Don't write off EVs yet" was disappointing. In light of the scandalous waste of resources we have seen in the chase for electric vehicles, I was curious to know his take.
Crain asserts that electrified vehicles will have a role in our future -- a debatable proposition and one for which he offers little support. He says government interference is a big problem for the electric vehicle but admits subsidies are its lifeblood. Huh? He rues the slow acceptance of the diesel engine -- an obvious point that few would disagree with.
Then Crain drops the bombshell: Don't count out the gasoline engine! You think? But wait -- then we are told don't count anything in or out.
I expect better from your publication.
