North American car and truck production in February rose 28 percent from a year earlier, to 1,385,905 units. It is the largest February total since 2004, when 1,408,479 vehicles were built.
Car production rose 57 percent in the United States, 4 percent in Canada and 24 percent in Mexico. North American car output climbed 38 percent. Truck output rose 18 percent in the United States, 22 percent in Canada and 40 percent in Mexico. North American truck production rose 21 percent.
Vehicle output was up 32 percent in the United States -- topping 900,000 for the first time since February 2008 -- 13 percent in Canada and 30 percent in Mexico.
